"It is better to provide education to a  poor person  than to build a  thousand
temples"  - Tamil poet Avvaiyar - 100 B. C.

We use the donations to buy sewing machines, pay school and college fees etc. Our services are done in Tamil Nadu, in the
southern part of India.

Our charity projects are mostly done in the town Tuticorin, and in the nearby village of Pudukottai.

Our achievements to-date:

*  Paid school fees for 197 high school students for 2 years for students of  Imayam High School.

*  Bought sewing machines for 37 women and 1 man.

* Bought 42 goats, and 2 cows for poor women

*  Paid a semester college fees for three young women.

*  Paid medical college fees for a disabled young man for 2  semesters.

* Bought 3 cycles, 1 rickshaw and 1 commercial grinder.

*  In 2005, we collected 2000 dollars for tsunami relief and bought 10 fishing nets for the fishermen.

* Helped build a principal's office and library at Imayam School

*   We collected 700 dollars for tsunami orphans in Sri Lanka. Dr. Clubwalla of New York helped with purchases of clothes, shoes and books for the
children in orphanages.

About our volunteers in Tamil Nadu, India:
Professor Selvaraj Samiappan, who retired from Kamaraj College, Tuticorin is our main volunteer. He screens and identifies the
children, women and men who need our help. He also buys the sewing machines, pays the school and college fees and mails us
all the paperwork.
Prof. Selvaraj is involved with many charitable projects in his hometown.
Our donors in the United States are from all parts of the United States of America and India

Some Oracle employees at their Denver facility had a luncheon and collected money for our charity.

Many donors chose to donate to us in lieu of Christmas gifts for their friends.

We thank all our donors for their generosity, and want them to know that 100% of their money is being spent
for the benefit of the poor.

third world countries:
*  Vocational training for marketable technical skills.

Kolam: The art of drawing with dots,
curves and lines.

It is done near the front entry of the
home every morning with rice flour.
The purpose of this art is to feed the
ants and insects.  The Tamil people
have done it for at least two
thousand years.

The Kolam art is done by women in
the family, and is passed on from
mother to daughter, and there are
very few published books to teach
this art. A few ladies clubs have
compiled lists of kolams.  Girls learn
to make the kolams at a very young
age. Rice flour is trickled between
the thumb and index finger in a
steady stream and the designs are
created.

Each family has its own collection of
Kolams that are recorded in
notebooks. Friends share kolams
with each other.
